  12. 1.0     Introduction
  13.  
  14. This diskette contains the latest ATI Windows 95 mach64 enhanced 
  15. display driver.  This driver should be used if you experience any 
  16. difficulties with the driver provided on the Microsoft Windows 95 CDROM 
  17. or if you wish to access the new features provided by this driver.

  21. 2.0     Installation Notes
  22.  
  23. 1. Ensure that you have a copy of PKUNZIP.EXE, v1.10 or later.  PKUNZIP 
  24. is available on most BBS and information services, including the ATI 
  25. BBS and CompuServe.
  26.  
  27. 2. Start Windows 95. 
  28.  
  29. 3. Start an MS DOS prompt.
  30.  
  31. 4. Unzip 64W95101.ZIP into a temporary directory on your hard disk.  
  32. For example:

  34. MD \ATITEMP
  35. PKUNZIP 64W95101.ZIP \ATITEMP
  36.  
  37. 5. Exit the MS DOS prompt, and return to the Windows 95 desktop.
  38.  
  39. The Windows 95 mach64 enhanced display driver is a Windows 95 mini 
  40. driver.  It is installed and configured using the standard Windows 95 
  41. configuration utilities. 
  42.                                       
  43. 6. Click the right mouse button in an empty area of the desktop and 
  44. select the Properties entry of the menu. 
  45.  
  46. 7. Select the Settings page of the Display Properties sheet. 
  47.  
  48. 8. Click the Change Display Type... button. 
  49.  
  50. 9. In the Adapter Type area, click the Change... button.  
  51.  
  52. 10. The Select Device Dialog box will appear.  Click the Have Disk... 
  53. button.  
  54.  
  55. 11. Specify the source drive,(e.g. C:\ATITEMP) and click OK.  Highlight 
  56. the macxw4 entry and click OK to copy the driver to your hard disk. 
  57.  
  58. 12. If you have not already configured your monitor type do so now. In 
  59. the Monitor Type area, click the Change... button and select the 
  60. appropriate monitor.  Click OK to apply your changes. 
  61.  
  62. 13. Click Close to return to the Settings page. Click "Close" or 
  63. "Apply" to initiate your changes. 
  64.  
  65. 14. Restart the computer to run Windows 95 using this new driver. 
  66.  
  67. 15. Once the driver has been installed, you can delete the contents of 
  68. the temporary directory (DEL \ATITEMP\*.*) and delete the directory 
  69. itself (RD \ATITEMP).

  71. 16. We recommend that you keep a copy of the ZIP file, 64W95101.ZIP, in 
  72. case you need to install the driver again.

  76. 3.0     Changing Color Depth, Resolution and/or Font Sizes 
  77.  
  78. When Windows 95 is up, you may configure your color depth, resolution  
  79. and/or font size in the Display Properties sheet as follows.  
  80.  
  81. 1. Click the right mouse button in an empty area of the desktop 
  82. and select Properties.   
  83.  
  84. 2. On the Settings page of the Display Properties sheet, choose your 
  85. preferred color support, resolutions and font size. Click "OK" or 
  86. "Apply" to initiate your changes. 
  87.  
  88. 3. On the Adjustment Page of the Display Properties sheet, you may 
  89. further customize your display.  
  90.  
  91. Note that these values reflect the monitor configuration you performed  
  92. using the Settings page - Change Display Type - Monitor Type.  
  93.  
  94. 4. Click Apply or OK to switch to the new setting.

  96. Note: Windows 95 will require a re-start to implement certain display 
  97.       settings changes.

  101. 4.0     mach64 Enhanced Windows 95 Driver Features
  102.  
  103. The Windows 95 mach64 Enhanced Features enhanced display driver 
  104. supports the following additional features: 
  105.  
  106.  - The ATI Adjustment page is added to the Display Properties sheet to 
  107.    provide monitor setup and adjustment. Use this page to adjust your  
  108.    monitors refresh rate and adjust your screen size and position.  
  109.  
  110.    1. To invoke the ATI Adjustment page click the right mouse button  
  111.    in an empty area of the desktop. 
  112.     
  113.    2. Select the Properties entry.  
  114.     
  115.    3. Select the ATI Adjustment tab. 
  116.  
  117.   
  118.  - The ATI Adapter Settings page is added to the Adapter Properties
  119.    sheet to provide low level hardware configuration.  
  120.     
  121.    1. To invoke the ATI Adapter Settings page activate the System 
  122.    applet in the Control Panel.  
  123.     
  124.    2. Select the Device Manager tab. 
  125.  
  126.    3. Double-click the Display adapters item in the list. 
  127.     
  128.    4. Double-click the ATI adapter entry.
